Feeling nervous before your first portrait session? You're not alone — in fact, it’s completely normal.

Whether it’s your first-ever photoshoot or it’s just been a while, anxiety can creep in:

“Will I look good?”

“What do I do with my hands?”

“What if I hate the photos?”

Take a deep breath — it doesn’t have to be stressful. Here’s how to ease those nerves and walk into your shoot feeling ready (and maybe even excited!).

1. You're not expected to know what to do.

That’s my job! As your photographer, I’ll guide you through natural poses, help you with your expression, and make sure the lighting and angles flatter you. You don’t need modeling experience — just trust the process.

2. We’ll take our time.

No need to rush. The best photos happen when you're relaxed, and I always build time into my shoots to let you warm up. We’ll chat, laugh, and ease into things together.

3. Wear something that makes you feel like you.

Skip the outfit that feels stiff or out of character. When you’re comfortable, it shows — and confidence shines in photos. I’m happy to help you choose something flattering if you’re unsure.

4. It’s okay to feel awkward at first.

Most people do! The magic happens when you let go of trying to look perfect and just let yourself be seen. That’s when we capture the real, beautiful you.

5. This experience is about more than photos.

It’s about celebrating who you are — right now. Whether it’s a milestone, a fresh start, or just because, you deserve to see yourself through a lens of care and confidence.
